Lorca is adorable. Annabelle, Txema and their siblings run a couple B&B/pension and the local market - really great people. It's a cool village with a restaurant and a couple alburgues. Such a good decision to stay in Lorca considering the super hot hike today - ~9 miles from Puente La Reina. We started at 8:30 (way too late - most are walking by 7) and hiked up a huge hill. SO hot so hot - temps in the 90s (and tomorrow will be hotter :/ so we're starting wicked wicked early tomorrow and stopping in Estella only 5 miles away (Jane has a reservation there - and there doesn't seem to be many options between Estella and Los Arcos, 13 miles). A great idea to do some short days - our feet are tired (and Jane's are blistered - no bueno). I'm a fan of my old Merrels and double ply light smart wool running socks. But it's really this heat wave which making things a lot harder. Some peregrinos from non-desert climates or ones that need to cover distances are having a really hard time.
