(Camino de Santiago) Viana to Logrono (and onto Barcelona and Roma)

Lovely 7 miles today (6 on the Camino and another mile to the train station once in town).  Beautiful sunrise hike - but we're so sad to be on the last leg of the Camino today (for this trip anyway - but we'll be back!)  Jane and I started out at 5:30 this morning and made it to Logrono train station after a long breakfast stop by 9:30 (an hour to spare before our train).  We're back in Barcelona now for an early flight to Rome...and we SO miss the Camino and our friends. It feels really un-natural to be off the trail after 10 days immersed. Truly, one of the best things there is. <3

It's darker than the photo shows - we needed a headlamp this morning but light enough by 6 a.m.

Looking back at Viana - with a crescent moon

Grapevines everywhere

Sunrise - with Viana in the distance

So tired - sunrise, no coffee, achy feet, almost breakfast time in Logrono

Trail sign on Logrono sidewalk

Spanish white stork nest on the Camino entering Logrono

Rio Ebro in Logrono - separates Navarre and La Rioja regions

Made it - Roncesvalles to Logrono!
